Artwork Information

Marilyn Monroe has been a muse for artists from Warhol to Dali. Creative license encourages the re-creation of moments that never were. News outlets in 2008 covered a collector's claim that he had sold an FBI-classified "sex" film featuring legendary actress Marilyn Monroe. A New York businessman allegedly purchased the 16mm film for $1.5 million and sequestered it in an effort to keep the film out of the public eye.

The film was revealed as a hoax, but the notion inspired Roseborough to construct a camp re-creation of this slice of historical fiction. I strove to make the most family-friendly X-rated or most naughty G-rated film ever made, depending upon one's point of view. Art can fill in the blanks that history leaves.
